Speed and coordination are the keys to high ratings in Fireboy and Watergirl 1 Forest Temple. Here is how to approach each level for cleaner completions.
Move both characters simultaneously whenever possible. Many players make the mistake of parking one character while moving the other. In Fireboy and Watergirl 1 Forest Temple, the timer rewards parallel movement, so train yourself to use both hands independently.
Identify the critical path before moving. Spend three seconds scanning the level layout to find switches, doors, and hazards. Knowing the sequence of actions before you start prevents backtracking and wasted time.
Use Fireboy for lava-side switches and Watergirl for water-side switches. This sounds obvious, but in complex levels the optimal assignment is not always the closest character. Sometimes sending a character on a longer safe route is faster than navigating a shorter dangerous one.
Green goo sections require the most caution. Neither character can touch it, so these areas demand precise jumping. In Fireboy and Watergirl 1 Forest Temple, green goo platforms are often the bottleneck of a level, and rushing through them causes the most restarts.
Collect all diamonds for maximum score. Red diamonds are for Fireboy, blue for Watergirl. Skipping diamonds saves time but costs rating points. On levels where the diamond path aligns with the exit path, grab them all. On levels where diamonds require significant detours, prioritize completion time first and replay for diamonds later.
