Ice physics in Fireboy and Watergirl 3 Ice Temple punish rushed movement. Controlled, deliberate inputs are the path to clean level completions.
Tap movement keys instead of holding them on ice surfaces. Short taps build speed gradually and give you finer control over your stopping point. Holding the key sends your character sliding at full speed, which is rarely what you want on a narrow platform.
Jump early on ice. Because your character continues sliding after you release the movement key, jumping at the edge of a platform in Fireboy and Watergirl 3 Ice Temple often means jumping too late. Start your jump one character-width before the edge to compensate for slide distance.
Use walls as brakes. Sliding into a wall stops your momentum instantly without damage. On levels with wall-bounded ice sections, deliberately sliding into walls is a legitimate strategy for controlling position.
Slopes are the trickiest element. Downhill slopes accelerate your character beyond normal running speed, and the only way to stop is a wall, a jump, or reaching flat ground. In Fireboy and Watergirl 3 Ice Temple, plan your slope exits before you start sliding. Know where you need to jump off and commit to the timing.
Coordinate ice movement between both characters carefully. On shared ice platforms, one character sliding into the other can push both off the edge. Stagger your movements so one character is stationary while the other slides into position.
